Defunctionality brings together recordings made by Radio Noise Collective across different places and moments: a forest in the UK in 2021, Audioblast in 2020, Taipei (Taiwan) and Nicosia (Cyprus) in 2025.
Radio Noise Collective approaches radio as an instrument, a transmission system and a shared sonic space. Portable receivers, AM/FM transmitters, antennas, interference, feedback and found signals form unstable networks in which broadcasting and listening continually exchange roles.
The release exists in two forms: a digital edition with 2 tracks, and a limited cassette edition with 4 tracks. The cassette contains two additional pieces unavailable online.
